IDTCC - HOW MANY HEATS, HOW MANY LAPS

We have heard many different opinions on what the racing format should should be, ranging from quads and tweelies on seperate days to enable longer heats etc. Is 3 heats of 5 laps really worthwhile or not? Fact is with the current format there is something like 20 classes to cater for.

Another consideration is that tweelies already have club, regional and national events, while quads have this championship only, which still only has official club status, not regional. Are we getting a fair deal?

Please post your opinions - the BIG MEETING has been postponed to the 2nd October, so there is still time to make your opinion count. Please keep your response relevant to the question, and bear in mind the question relates only to IDTCC.

BELATED EDIT:

The questions posed are:

1. Do riders want quads and bikes on seperate days?

2. How many heats do riders want, and of what duration?

as a quadder(doesnt sound too good) i dont believe we should seperate the tweelies from us.reason being that the bikers have always felt that we always get preference over them at all the tracks.there is a good vibe between them and us and we cant let that fall away .most of them dont ride the regionals or nats because most of them are not competive or fit enough and prefer our set up which leans more towards the fam and fun aspect.we must rather look at starting earlier and not waste time in between heats.get the water trucks going whilst the babies are racing, and sprinklers going continously.most time is wasted at the beginning of the day when racing always starts up to 30 mins late.alkmaar is a good example of how to do it.yes we finish late but then they have more classes than us(especially tweelies)

1) Keep the tweelies. (Too many good reasons)

2) Combine some classes as we saw recently with open 2-stroke and Blaster. Let the first group get 1/3 lap ahead, then start the second group. (100cc + 80cc std, Vets + Ladies)

3) Start earlier.

4) Watering will always be difficult as it depends on whether it is raining, windy, hot, what tyres the influential riders have on, etc. More water trucks and or sprinklers would be nice, but the riders would have to pay higher fees.

5) Do not delay starting while waiting for riders racing different classes. Their support team should be organised.

6) No. of laps should be proportionate to the time it takes to complete the race per class. Open seniors may do 6 laps in the time it takes the 100cc mods to do 4 laps. Open Juniors, the same 6, while the 100cc can do 7 on the short course. Start with the available time, deduct for watering, give each class the same time, calculate how many laps are possible per class. Round down to account for the stragglers. Laps remain the same for the season.

Definitely have quads and bikes on seperate days.

Open U17 class - I would like to have 2 heats of 20 minutes + 1 lap. Waiting around the whole day for 3 10 minute races is more tiring than the racing itself.

1. KEEP QUADS & 2 WHEELERS TOGETHER. lots of parents on quads have kids riding 2 wheelers and other way round. What about guys like Estie Civils that are riding quads and bikes??????
2. Keep it at 3 heats but just a suggestion... seperate kiddies track, let the kiddies and the 100cc mods start at the same time on seperate tracks. Will save time nd the little ones will finish sooner and they will not get so tired and irritated and it will leave the big bikes and quads to do their thing on a bigger track.

It would be nice & essential to have quads & two-wheelers on seperate days due to time constraints. To be honest I hardly watch the two-wheelers race, and I'm sure most tweelies aren't interested in watching quads race. Regarding the laps: for the Juniors (50cc,80cc,100cc standard) I would recommend 4 laps on the junior track. Seniors, vets etc at least 6 laps or 10Min + 1 lap. (I have nothing against 2 wheelers, to me it's just a completely different type of racing). My 2 cents worth so don't bite my head off.

Also, I think we should keep to 3 heats. Reason being, if you have a problem (maybe a bad pull-off or whatever) in one heat, at least you have 2 more heats to get your points back up.

Where will MSA find the extra 11 race dates for the tweelies? Charmaine thanx for you support, when we started racing 3yrs ago the babies did race their 3 heats early morning on a seperate track by mid day they were so board, we then asked Pierre to change it and I promise you it's much better now.

Kyle IF you bring your squeeze or skelm to the track you won't have to be in such a hurry to get home. Relax and enjoy the day

Keep the quads and 2 wheelers together. Its a day of fun and we all know one another. As for laps let juniors do 4 laps on junior track and seniors 6 laps

Porno from DGS Racing in C.T. here...
I am glad to see that the JHB guys are taking this quad MX seriously and that next year is going to be a great year for all us riders. We will be travelling to ALL inland races next year to race against the best of the best.
In response to the questions, i think that the quad should have there own days racing and the tweelies can ride the other 1000 tweelie races. This is the only quad series that is worth competing in and to make it worth while for everyone senior quads should get the chance to have 3 heats of 15min + 1 lap....and junior quads 10 min + 1 lap.
That way if you have a bad heat, you have 2 heats to make it up...
We used to run 3 heats of 15 min here in C.T. 2 years ago but because we ride with the tweelies, they cut i down to 2 heats.
We are all there for the fun and excitement but we are also there to race and do our best...give everyone a fair chance to prove themselves.
Well done to the JHB boys for making our sport grow to what it is today

See you guys at pietersburg
